The list of regular holidays and unique non-working days in the nation for 2023 has been made public by Malacanang.

On Monday, August 22, Proclamation No. 42 was approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The announcement was made on Tuesday, August 23.

Marcos altered the original decree on November 11 in order to provide for more long weekends in 2023. This was done by issuing Proclamation No. 90.

According to Proclamation 90, the Araw ng Kagitingan holiday, which was celebrated on April 9 (Sunday) in 2023, was shifted to April 10, the Monday closest to April 9. Originally observed as a normal holiday on November 30 (Thursday), Bonifacio Day was changed to November 27. (Monday nearest November 30).

Moreover, January 2, a Monday, was added as a special non-working day by Proclamation 90.

Regular holidays include:

  • New Year’s Day – January 1 (Sunday)
  • Maundy Thursday – April 6
  • Good Friday – April 7
  • Araw ng Kagitingan – April 10 (Monday nearest April 9)
  • Labor Day – May 1 (Monday)
  • Independence Day – June 12 (Monday)
  • National Heroes Day – August 28 (Monday)
  • Bonifacio Day – November 27 (Monday nearest November 30)
  • Christmas Day – December 25 (Monday)
  • Rizal Day – December 30 (Saturday)

Special (non-working) days:

  • EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary – February 25 (Saturday)
  • Black Saturday – April 8
  • Ninoy Aquino Day – August 21 (Monday)
  • All Saints’ Day – November 1 (Wednesday)
  • Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary – December 8 (Friday)
  • Last Day of the Year – December 31 (Sunday)

Additional special (non-working day):

  • January 2 (Monday)
  • November 2 (Thursday)

Following the determination of the dates of these Islamic holidays using either the Islamic calendar or the lunar calendar, separate proclamations announcing national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr, marking the conclusion of the month-long Ramadan, and Eid’l Adha, the Feast of the Sacrifice, will be issued.
